Like I wrote about in a previous post about migrating to SiteGround, my blog was migrated from wordpress.com to a hosted wordpress.org. But that is not all about it, we still have some other activities to do to optimize this blog and to optimize WordPress setup. It takes some effort and time to find out what the settings and plugins are all about. I want to share the steps taken so either you can use this as well, as we have some other fine bloggers at ITQ, or you can inform me of more successful options/steps you have taken. This is a continuous improvement. Use the comments and tell me your story (or settings)!
For optimizations to work you should have some content and readers. If you don’t have any content there is nothing much to optimize, and the readers will make the caching optimizations work. If a page didn’t get requested nothing will be cached. So first work on some content. Anyway, I am going to discuss the following:
- Why and how to measure
- Page Speed Optimizations with page appearance tips and several plugins like Compressions, W3 Total Cache, Autoptimize and so on
- Search consoles and Yoast
- RSS Feed optimizations
- Plugins list

And this is blog post number 100 in almost 4 years of blogging. A great milestone if I say so myself. And since my last was in 2013, a recap post is overdue 😉 So here goes crunching some numbers.
TL;DR This post is a little recap what I have done with my blog with some statistics from the years. Mainly for the fun of it. I don’t know how useful these are for you, but I can share them anyways as these are a bit of fun for me looking back these couple of years.
Over time I received some questions regarding what it takes doing a blog. Questions like what made you or how did you start, what is your traffic, hosting, time spent, sponsoring, and so on. Sometimes I can answer these with some ease, but as I am not really a statistics junkie….well not before this one anyway….I could not always give answers. But apparently I have loads of statistic data. I don’t know how useful these are for you, but I can share them anyways as these are a bit of fun for me looking back without anger.

As 2013 is coming to an end (and my holiday break is coming up) the time for looking back at 2013 and looking forward to 2014 is starting.
2013 is a productive year with starting my blog in august, getting some 35 37 blog posts out there (and maybe some more before the year ends), getting some notice on twitter, visiting VMworld Europe and successfully passing my VCAP5-DCD. Great goals with great finishes (if I may say so myself :-))!
But what will be 2014 like? I’m hoping to get my VCAP5-DCA and start on VCDX, and get VCAP-DTA. Hopefully I can keep up the blogging pace (not easy with work and family life, respect to all those that are doing this) and my content is somewhat interesting for the readers (and if not please do tell, also when you like it 😉 ).
And hopefully I will be able to be part of the VMworld magic again. Goals Goals goals. To be honest I have not yet been making that much targets, so maybe there will be some more on the list.
And yes, looking back is also a statistics thing, so to finish this post some of my blog 2013 statistics; let see what my top five best read posts are for 2013.
